Aircooled Racing, in both privateer and team form, has been competing in Porsche cars for over 30 years. Owner Steve Limbert first drove a Porsche 356 in driver's school after several years working on American V8's and drag racing. After obtaining a national SCCA license in 1974, Steve began to campaign on a national level.
Steve had the great fortune of working with several Porsche notables through the 70's, including the renowned Bruce Jennings. Their generous assistance and knowledge was passed on to Steve and was put to immediate use as Steve climbed the National ladder and eventually earned an invitation to the SCCA Runnoffs, which were then held at Road Atlanta and only invited the top 4 cars nationwide!
In 1978 Aircooled Racing was formed originally to offset the costs of racing. At the time we sold orignal parts and some aftermarket racing parts. One of the first suppliers we worked with was ATL fuel cells and since 1979 we have sold not only 911 and 914 fuel cells but many other applications. In the eary 90's we developed the 911 ATL cell that is a true bolt-in that requires no additional holes in the chassis.
Recently we have shifted our focus and the focus of Aircooled Racing towards the growing vintage racing seen. We have built several vintage cars to compete with the Vintage Racers Group, SVRA, and VSCCA. We currenty offer an Arrive and Drive program for all vintage races in the Northeast; we can delvier your own race car or we have 914-6 "Replikars" of famous racers and in 2009 will have a 1971 Porsche 911RS available. More information can be found on the Arrive and Drive page.
Aircooled Racing can be seen through-out the racing season at world-class tracks nationwide including Virginia International Raceway, Watkins Glen, Road America, Daytona, and many others. We welcome you to stop by and visit while we are racing, a yearly schedule will be posted will all pertinent information for each event.
